Ministers of the Eucharist
A Minister of the Eucharist, also known as an Extraordinary Minister of Holy Communion, is a trained layperson who assists the priest in distributing Communion at Mass and bringing it to the sick and homebound.
This role is a special, sacred ministry within the Catholic Church that requires prior training and official approval from the parish priest. The ministry is a way for the laity to serve the community by helping to distribute the Body and Blood of Christ.
Ministers of the Word
A Minister of the Word is a lay Catholic who proclaims readings from scripture during Mass and other liturgical services, helping the community to hear and understand God's message.
They are also sometimes called readers or lectors and may lead the prayers of the faithful.
If you would like to become a Minister of the Word or Eucharist, please contact Fr. Brendan or our Parish Office.
