What we collect
When you contact us
If you use the contact form on this website, we collect your first name, surname, email address, your phone number if you choose to give it, and your message. We also keep emails, letters and notes of phone calls you send to the Parish Office.
When you ask for a sacrament or parish service
When you arrange a Baptism, First Holy Communion, Confirmation, Marriage or Funeral, we record the details needed to prepare for and celebrate the sacrament, and the entries required in the parish registers.
Mass intentions and parish newsletters
When you request a Mass intention or anniversary, the name you give us is published in the Mass Schedule of our weekly newsletter, on this website and in the churches. Names of the recently deceased may also be included, with the agreement of the family.
When you visit this website
Our web hosting records basic technical information, such as your IP address and the pages requested, to keep the website secure and working. For information about cookies, please see our Cookie Policy.
How we use it
We only use your personal information for the purpose you gave it to us. Data protection law requires a lawful basis for each use:
- Replying to your enquiry: our legitimate interest in responding to people who contact the parish.
- Sacraments and parish registers: the legitimate activities of a religious body, with appropriate safeguards (GDPR Article 9(2)(d)). Parish registers are kept as required by Church law.
- Publishing Mass intentions and notices: your consent, given when you make the request. You can ask us not to publish a name.
- Website security: our legitimate interest in keeping the website safe.
We do not sell your information, use it for marketing, or make decisions about you by automated means.
Who we share it with
We share personal information only where necessary:
- with the Diocese of Meath, or another parish, where required for a sacrament (for example, a marriage taking place elsewhere);
- with service providers who support the parish, such as our website host and email provider, under agreements that protect your information;
- where we are required to by law.
Your information is stored within the European Economic Area.
Other websites and services
The map on our Contact Us page is provided by Google Maps, and our Mass stream is on YouTube. When you use these, Google may collect information about you under its own privacy policy. Links to other organisations, such as those in our Useful Resources, are covered by their own privacy policies.
How long we keep it
- Contact form messages and general correspondence: kept for two years, then deleted.
- Sacramental records and parish registers: kept permanently, as required by Church law.
- Newsletters: kept in our online archive as a record of parish life. Contact us if you would like a name removed from an archived newsletter.
Keeping it safe
We take appropriate steps to protect your information, including limiting access to those who need it, keeping paper records secure in the Parish Office, and using an encrypted (https) connection for this website.
Your rights
You have the right to:
- ask for a copy of the personal information we hold about you;
- ask us to correct information that is wrong or incomplete;
- ask us to delete your information, where we have no reason to keep it;
- ask us to limit how we use your information, or object to our using it;
- receive your information in a portable format, where this applies;
