In Grateful Appreciation ….
On Sunday, 29th December 2024, we welcomed our Bishop, Tom Deenihan, to our Parish to make a presentation to a couple who have given over 70 years’ service to the people of our Parish.
They are an exceptional couple. Over this lifetime of 70 years, they have been on committees and been involved in every aspect of Parish life.
This was always done quietly and humbly, working away, very often in the background, but always for the love of God and the love of the people of our Parish.
They have worked with all the priests of our parish over this time among others they have supported; Fr. Peter Fagan, Fr. Patrick Fagan, Fr. Edward Dunne, Fr. Seamus Dunican, Fr. Michael V. Daly, Fr. Robert McCabe, Fr. Declan D. Kelly and our present priests, Fr’s Michael, Phil and Brendan. They have helped, guided and assisted each of them to minister to their full potential in serving Gods’ people. Their friendship and personal support to each of the priests made their time in our parish even more rewarding.
On behalf of all the people of the Parish, Bishop Tom presented them a bouquet of flowers and a brass plaque acknowledging this service to the people of our parish. This Plaque will be erected in St. Patricks’ church in the coming weeks.
The couple would not hear of a public acknowledgement of such outstanding service, so a representative of each of our Parish committees, together with family members, gathered in their home for the Presentation.
