SECOND SUNDAY IN LENT 18th March 2025

Sunday 16 March 2025

Published 18 March 2025

RIP

Your prayers are requested for the repose of the soul of Eileen Butler whose funeral took place in our Parish this week.

Please remember all bereaved families in your prayers.

St. Patrick

St. Patrick’s was a life transformed. As a youth he was kidnaped by pirates, enduring six ears of terrible hardship. Eventually he escaped and returned to Britain where he was reunited with his family. But in a vision he heard the ‘voice of the Irish’ calling to him with the words, ‘we beg you, holy youth, to walk once more among us.’

After a period of training in Europe he was ordained and embarked upon his mission to bring the gospel to Ireland. In his Confession and Letter to Coroticus he revealed an intense prayer life: ‘Keep me as the apple of your eye; hide me in the shadow of your wings.’ On his feast day, we ask for the grace to pray as he prayed and live as he lived.

‘The eye of God to be my sight, the word of God to be my speech ,the hand of God to be my stay, the shield of God to be my strength, the path of God to be my way. ‘
