Sacraments in our Parish

As we continue our journey towards receiving the Sacraments this year, we encourage families to attend Mass each weekend and keep an eye on our Parish Newsletter for information.

Confirmation and First Communion

Enrolment Ceremonies for Confirmation Candidates will take place on Saturday, 24th January at 7 pm in St. Mary’s Church, or Sunday, 1st February at 11:30 am in St. Mary’s Church, Julianstown.

Our Enrolment Ceremonies will include Parents, candidates and our Parish community.

We will have two Ceremonies and all who wish to enroll for Confirmation in March are required to attend one of these Ceremonies.

These Enrolment Ceremonies take place over two weekends to facilitate full participation.

If your child was Baptised outside our Parish, please remember to include an original Baptismal Certificate with the Enrolment Form. (Please staple the Certificate with the Form). The Enrolment Form is handed to the Celebrant as part of the Enrolment Ceremony.

If you haven’t received an Enrolment Form or if yours has been misplaced, please collect one from Fr. Brendan in the Sacristy after any Mass or call into our Parish Office.

  • Dates for Enrolment Ceremonies for children preparing for First Communion will be advised soon.

This is a very exciting time for our young parishioners, their families and our Parish. We ask parishioners to pray for these children and all our young parishioners.

Baptism

Our next Baptism preparation meeting takes place on Tuesday, 3rd February, 2026 at 7:30 pm in St. Patrick’s Parish Centre. If you wish to request Baptism for your child, please contact our Parish Office.

Godparents

When choosing Godparents for your child we would like to advise the following according to the Law of the Church, Canon Law (872-5):

  • A person to be baptised is to be given a sponsor (Godparent) who, together with the parents, presents an infant/child for baptism.
  • A sponsor also helps the baptised person to lead a Christian life in keeping with Baptism and to fulfil faithfully the obligations inherent in it.
  • There should only be one sponsor (Godparent) or if there are to be two, they should be male and female.

To be permitted to take on the function of a Godparent a person must:

  • Be over 16 years of age,
  • Be a Catholic who has been Confirmed and has already received the Sacrament of the Eucharist and leads a life of faith.
