Your Lenten Journey

Have you decided what you will do for Lent this year? Again this year we will have a limited number of “Walk with Me” booklets available in our Churches / Sacristies.

These popular little booklets are a lovely companion as we pilgrimage together, nourished by prayer, strengthened by Scripture and sustained by the Eucharist, towards our goal, of the great feast of Easter Sunday. Cost: €2.

Lent 2026

Thank you to all who offered suggestions for additions to our weekly schedule during Lent.

As a result of suggestions, an extra Mass will be offered at 7:30pm each Wednesday during Lent in St. Patrick’s Church, commencing this Wednesday with Mass and distribution of Ashes.

A Prayer as we begin our Lenten Journey

(Ash Wednesday)

Loving Jesus,
as I place on my forehead

the sign of your loving cross.
You say to me, repent and believe in the Gospel.
Walking into Lent my heart is set on you.
May my fasting fill me with hunger for you,
may my prayer draw me deeper into your presence,
may my acts of charity bring your love
to my home and community.

Lord of Life,
grant that by turning back to you in these forty days
I will reawaken the joy of my Easter faith;
for you raise me up from fear and despair
and call me to hope and trust in God

who is with me always.
With you, I will rise again.

Amen

Fasting this Lent

Fast from hurting words and say kind words
Fast from sadness and be filled with gratitude
Fast from pessimism and be filled with hope
Fast from worries and trust in God
Fast from pressure and be prayerful
Fast from bitterness and fill your heart with joy
Fast from selfishness and be

compassionate to others
Fast from grudges and be reconciled
Fast from words, be silent, so you can listen
Pope Francis

Trócaire Boxes

If you wish to donate to Trócaire this year, envelopes are available beside the Newsletters in both churches. (You can return these envelopes during or at the end of Lent).

We have requested Boxes, but they haven’t arrived yet. We are hoping to have them during the week.

Tap Machines

Further to our note regarding Tap Machines. When the machines are available they will be located at the entrance to both Churches. We will trial them for a six month period.

These Tap machines will facilitate parishioners who do not have cash with them to tap on their way into or after Mass for the Offertory Collection.

Sacraments in our Parish

First Communion

As we begin our preparations for First Confession, and with the season of Lent commencing next Wednesday - a time when we prepare our hearts for the Resurrection of the Lord and following conversations with our teachers, we can advise First Confession will take place in the first week of March.

Confessions will take place in School or after morning Mass in the Church, weather permitting.
