Moorechurch Cemetery – Mass and Blessing of Graves

In preparation for Mass and Blessing of Graves in Moorechurch Cemetery on Sunday morning we would like to recommend that you arrive early to give yourself plenty of time time to park.

Parking is available beside the Cemetery however, we imagine because this is the first time in three years, we have been able come together to remember our loved ones buried in Moorechurch, there might be a large gathering.

We would also like to advise, with the huge rise in Covid cases recently, it is suggested that those attending the Mass should consider wearing facemasks.  (This is at your own discretion).

Sincere thanks to all who were involved in the preparation of the cemetery and surrounding area for the annual devotions:

Thanks to Bridie Kirwan for organising Ministers of the Eucharist and Word.

We would also like to thank:

  • Denis O’Flaherty for Supervision of parking and security presence

  • Georgina and the Choir members

  • Collectors: Myra, Christy, Diarmuid and Michael.

  • Joseph Whyte and Pat & Mary for providing the Lorry.

  • Philip McCormack and Christy Martin for the use of their fields for car parking.

  • Philip McCormack for providing the Electricity.

  • Paudge Moore for looking after the sound system

  • Brendan Collins for the great job he did cutting the grass.

  • Anne Woods for all her hard work behind the scenes liaising with individuals to keep the cemetery in great condition.

Indeed, thanks to all who provided invaluable help on the day in preparation for our Annual Mass and Blessing for which we are sincerely grateful

Finally, A special note of thanks to all who visit the Cemetery for the care and attention given to the graves of their loved ones.

We would like to take this opportunity to remind you when you visit either Cemetery in the Parish to please take any rubbish/unwanted flowers etc., home with you for recycling.

Tidy Towns activities in the Parish

Julianstown Tidy Towns Volunteers are continuing their work in and around the village and you can at last see the changes being made.  Twenty Planters have been distributed throughout the village on the approach roads, at Whitecross National School, St. Mary’s Catholic Church, St. Mary’s Church of Ireland, The Lime Kiln and outside the Community Garden.  All the flower beds are getting a makeover.  It’s a lot of work for our Volunteers and if you can help by cleaning the kerbs, it would be greatly appreciated.

Judging has taken place for the An Taisce Green Flag Award for the garden and fingers crossed we get our fourth one.

Judging for Supervalu National Tidy Towns takes place this month and early August will see judging take place for Meath Co. Council’s Pride of Place; this will include the village and housing estates, and shop front.  The Lime Kiln has been entered for Best Shop Front and Best hospitality. Good luck to all.  If you would like to give a hand, please meet in the garden at 10.30 am any Tuesday or Saturday morning.  It’s good fun, you learn lots about gardening and enjoy a cuppa with your friends and neighbours.  A big ‘Go raibh maith agat’ to our volunteers and those on the East Meath Community Employment Scheme – you are making such a difference to our beautiful village of Julianstown.

Boyne Valley Camino

The Boyne Valley Camino in aid of Peter McVerry Trust will take place next Saturday, 9th July at 9am.

This is a looped route, starting and finishing at St. Peter’s Church in Drogheda’s town centre, the figure of eight route will take you through Townley Hall, Tullyallen village, down King William’s Glen, across the Boyne at the Obelisk. From here you will visit the location of the Battle of the Boyne in Oldbridge Estate, before walking along the Boyne Canal back to Drogheda.

The walk will last approximately five hours and will stop for lunch along the way.

All funds raised will go towards the charity’s work with people impacted by homelessness across Ireland.
