St. Patrick’s Church

We are going to keep the doors of the Church closed at Mass during the week to keep the heat in.  Entrance to the church will be through the doors from the Car Park.

WhatsApp Group

We are hoping to create a whatsApp group to enable us advise when a Mass time has to be changed for example, for a funeral.

Moorechurch Cemetery Committee

We would ask visitors to the graves and graveyard to please refrain from dumping on the ditches and boundary headlands.  We encourage everyone to bring rubbish, old wreaths, flowerpots, or whatever debris they may have, home with them after their visit.

Applause at Mass

Applause shows our approval or sends a message of praise.  While applause at Mass is very welcome at celebrations, such as Christmas or Easter when the celebrant invites it, this is the exception.  It is not necessary to applause at Mass. Pope St. John Paul said, it is not fitting that the servant should be applauded in his Master’s house.

When we pray, we talk to God, when we sing, as St. Augustine pointed out, we pray twice.

While we appreciate our wonderful choirs, singers, ministers and celebrants, they enhance our celebration of Mass, with us.

Following the suggestions of the Popes and Bishops, and best Liturgical practice, might it be a good idea to reserve applause until those special times to show our appreciation!
