Dept of Education ‘Parents’ School Survey

As you know, the Department of Education is currently conducting a survey of parents and prospective parents of pupils in Primary schools as to the type of education they want for their children. The Catholic patrons are very clear that we want you to participate in this particular survey. It is very important that all voices are heard. There are those who wish to have a school of a different patronage. There are those who wish to have a catholic school for their child. It is important that all voices are heard so that proper provision can be provided. I am committed to Catholic education. I am committed to a sacramental education and I am committed to teaching children about Jesus in the School. That model does not necessarily suit everybody. We respect that, but please vote and make sure that your consideration, your views, are part of the discussion. Otherwise, planning for the future becomes very difficult.

Bishop Tom

All parents/guardians and teachers are encouraged to complete the survey. It is important that the voices of those seeking change are heard, but it is equally important to hear from those of you who value your local Catholic school and the way it supports your child’s education.

The values learned at school shape who our children become. A faith-based environment can offer young people a strong foundation in the world that they are growing up in today. Our message today is don’t leave it to others. If you want your school to stay a Catholic School, then make sure and have your say.

The survey is open until 16th December 2025. To take part, visit www.gov.ie/primaryschoolsurvey.
