Our Parish office will close on Friday, 19th December at 12 pm and re-open on Monday 5th January at 10 am.
In recent weeks, some have asked how our parish finances are managed and sourced…..
Firstly, I want to sincerely thank all parishioners for your continued financial support to our parish. Each parish is responsible for its own Expenditure and Income.
Parish expenditures include the upkeep of its churches and the maintenance of all parish buildings, pastoral centre, grounds and all associated costs, the payment of wages (for the priest and staff). Other parish expenses include Insurance for all parish property, phone expenses, electricity, heating and the administrative work required to prepare for our ceremonies and day-to day operations.
We have two main sources of income to cover these expenses:
- 01Weekly Envelope / Standing Order Contributions
All parishioners are asked and encouraged to take a box of envelopes or to contribute by standing order/direct debit, which is now the most convenient and reliable method. The annual distribution of the envelope boxes takes place in the next week to ten days.
When an individual or family contributes €250 or more in a year, the parish, as a registered charity, can claim the Government Charity Tax Refund (CHY) Scheme, greatly increasing the value of your donation at no extra cost to you.
- 01The Weekly Offertory Collection
The offertory collection at each weekend Mass is essential in meeting the day-to-day costs of running our parish - including heating and lighting during the Mass itself. We are blessed to have warm, very well maintained, clean, and welcoming churches, and this collection plays a vital role in the maintaining of that environment.
In addition to these main sources, parishioners also make private donations, and some kindly remember our parish in their Will. Others leave bequests for Masses for themselves or their loved ones.
Parish Finance Committee
Our parish finances are overseen by a Finance Committee, made up of eight of your fellow parishioners with the required expertise and qualifications. They are responsible for all parish properties and their upkeep. Thanks to your generosity, the committee has been able to carry out essential maintenance and repairs on both churches, as well as improvements to our Parish Office and Pastoral Centre.
The committee has ambitious plans for 2026/27, aimed at enhancing our two churches and our celebration of the sacraments and safeguarding our buildings for future generations. More details on these projects will be shared in the new year.
The committee has also completed vital work on the roofs and heating systems of our two churches, while at the same time managing a debt to the Diocese of Meath, which at the moment, stands at €125,000 and is decreasing by €25,000 a year. These investments ensure a safe and vibrant parish environment—especially for our young people.
Once again, we ask you to consider taking a box of envelopes or better still, to contribute by standing order. (Please contact our parish office if you would like to receive a box of envelopes. If you wish to contribute by Standing Order our Bank Details are as follows: BIC BOFIIE2D and IBAN IE85 BOFI 9035 4175 3568 29 – please include your name in the Reference. Bank details – are also always available in our weekly Parish Bulletin).
Thank you for your generosity and we encourage you to continue supporting your parish, your fellow parishioners, and especially the parishioners of the future—your children and grandchildren.
