Goal Mile

Thank you to all who came out on St. Stephen’s Day and supported the Goal Mile at St Patrick’s GAA Club, Stamullen. A great morning was had by all, old and young took to the track to run walk or jog and €815 was raised for Goal to help some of the world’s poorest and most desperate people. We enjoyed tea and scones in the clubhouse afterwards and it was good to catch up with neighbours, friends and visitors to the parish. Special thanks to St Patrick’s GAA Club for all their help, use of their clubhouse and donating tea, coffee and cups. Thanks to Brendan Meade and Star of the Sea Athletic Club too, they are out in force every year.

Age Action – Silver Surfer Awards

Age Action together with new sponsor eir are making waves to find Ireland’s top Silver Surfers. The awards celebrate and showcase older peoples’ use of the internet and technology as well as the volunteers who teach these skills.

The awards will be presented by broadcaster Baz Ashmawy and his mother Nancy on Tuesday 28th March at the eir Building, 1 Heuston South Quarter, St. John’s Road, Dublin 8.

This year we are looking for enthusiastic people over the age of 50 who have an interesting story to share about how they use their computer and the internet and who will become a role model to inspire more older people to embrace technology.

We are calling on people across Ireland to nominate a friend, neighbour or relative who uses technology for pleasure or as a way to enhance the quality of their life.

This is the eighth year of the awards and there are five award categories.

The public can nominate someone for an award by filling in a form online at www.ageaction.ie/silversurfer or by phoning Anne-Marie in Age Action on 01 475 6989.
