Diocesan News

The Pro Life Campaign has said the Oireachtas Committee on abortion is turning more and more into a pantomime. They were responding to tonight’s vote in which the committee voted not to retain the 8th Amendment in full, second guessing the public hearings they had scheduled for the next two months.
Commenting on tonight’s vote, Dr Ruth Cullen of the Pro Life Campaign said: “The committee have issued the verdict before the evidence was even heard. From the very start this process has been a complete travesty.
“The committee has lined up more than 25 abortion advocates to present but have only invited 3 pro-life speakers. This signifies the committee’s total contempt for democracy and the protection of human life. Clearly the committee thinks tonight’s vote was another smart political stroke – voting before even hearing the evidence of the witnesses they have invited to present at taxpayers’ expense.”
Dr Cullen concluded: “When the extent of this charade sinks in with the public the workings of this committee will turn out to be a gift to the pro-life cause. In the meantime, we will continue to bring the message to the wider public that abortion is always an injustice to women and unborn babies.

Fund Raising Committee – Bingo Night

The next Bingo Night takes place in the City North Hotel on Wednesday, 6th December.  Looking forward to seeing you there.

St. Patrick’s Church Stamullen

We would like to remind parishioners of a new routine for coming to receive the Eucharist at Masses in Stamullen.

Instead of spreading out in front of the Altar we are proposing that Fr. Declan will remain standing at the centre of the sanctuary  and those wishing to receive communion will go to him.  The Eucharistic Minister will be placed half way down the aisle in the middle of the church (instead of at the back).

We will observe how this new system works over a few weeks.

Walk along the avenue of Pumpkins (supplied by Kennedy Pumpkin Patch and carved by a team of Witches)  Meet the mystics, Emer and Margo and find out what’s in store for you.  Try out Apple Dunking or bite the swinging apple!  Grab a Hot dog and try the scrumptious toasted marshmallows and wash it down with some tea/coffee and a bun.  Drinks  for the children.  There is a nominal donation of €5 per family to cover costs, but if you would like to bake a few ghostly buns for us, we would be delighted!  Please try and leave the car at home as parking facilities are very limited.  Hope to see you there!
