Philip Cahill R.I.P.
We extend our deepest sympathies to the family and friends of the late Philip Joseph Cahill of Trim Road Navan. Mr. Cahill was a teacher at Stamullen National School from 1972 until 1993 and became a firm favourite amongst every pupil that ever graced his classroom. Known affectionately to all the kids throughout the parish as `Wally Cahill` he had an extremely simple, laid-back and effective way of teaching. Funeral Mass for Philip Cahill was held at St. Mary`s Church in Navan on Friday morning, June 17th last at 9.50am and he was laid to rest afterwards just inside the gate of St. Mary`s Cemetery Navan alongside his parents, Thomas and Bridget and his infant son John. A full obituary for the late Mr. Cahill will be published in the local Louth & Meath newspapers at his Month`s Mind. (Brendan Matthews)

This week’s Envelope collection is the annual Peter’s Pence Collection. In this Jubilee Year of Mercy, Pope Francis has called each of us to be a witness of charity for our suffering brothers and sisters living on the margins. He encourages us to “open our eyes and see the misery of the world, the wounds of our brothers and sisters who are denied their dignity, and let us recognize that we are compelled to heed their cry for help!” (Misericordiae Vultus [MV], no. 15). Through the Peter’s Pence Collection, we unite with the Holy Father as he reaches out to our brothers and sisters suffering the effects of war and violence, natural disasters, and religious persecution. We stand in solidarity with Catholics all over the world to support the charitable works and outreach of the Holy See. In Pope Francis, we have a joyful witness of charity. Join Pope Francis and be a witness of charity throughout the world.
