Directives from the Diocese of Meath

for Celebration of Funeral & Wedding Masses

In our Parish, in accordance with Diocesan guidelines, Eulogies are not part of the Funeral Mass; an option for a eulogy to take place is in the Funeral Home or in the Cemetery, after the burial.

In celebrations of the Eucharist, Readings at the Mass must be taken from the Bible (Lectionary).

Our church is a Sacred space with the Blessed Sacrament and sacred Music/Hymns only are permitted during the celebration of the Eucharist, be it at a Funeral or Wedding Mass.

Weekday masses on the day of a Funeral

Funerals in our Parish normally take place at 11 am.

When a Funeral Mass takes place in St. Patrick’s Church (on Tuesday or Thursday), it will replace the 10 am Mass on that day.  When a Funeral Mass takes place in St. Mary’s Church (on a Wednesday or Friday), it will replace the 10 am Mass on that day.

When the 10 am Mass is in the second church in the parish on the day of a funeral, that Mass will become a Service.

This will enable Fr. Brendan to attend the house and say prayers with the Family.

There is now a WhatsApp group, if you wish to be notified of any changes to Mass schedule, please contact our Parish office to include your name.

Any mass intention/s from the postponed morning Mass will automatically be offered the following week.

St. Patrick’s Church

Due to supplier issues, work on Storm glazing the stained glass windows couldn’t commence this week.  This work will now start this Monday and could take up to two weeks.

This necessary work will protect our precious stained-glass windows in the main nave of the church and the ones in the Sanctuary.  These are valuable windows and this preserves them and ensures their safety.

We are inviting sponsorship towards the cost of these windows.

Maybe you, or a business you might be aware of and can ask, might sponsor or part-sponsor, a window?  We have six windows costing €1,100 each and four costing €750 each.

  • Work has also begun on the refurbishment of the two statues. This refurbishment work is estimated to cost between €1,200 – 1,500 per statue.

We would like to sincerely thank individuals who have already contributed to the Restoration and refurbishment work on the statues.

Your support with these projects will be very much appreciated and ensures our church building is maintained and preserved for the next generation and many to come.
