Twentieth Sunday in Ordinary Time 20th August 2023
Summer Reflection
Creator God
who breathed this world into being,
who is discernible within
the harmony of nature,
the perfection of a butterfly’s wing,
the grandeur of a mountain range,
the soaring kestrel and singing skylark,
thank you for this world
which you have created.
Thank you for summer sun,
which reminds us
that your creative breath
is still alive and active.
Thank you
for the warmth of your love,
sustaining this world.
R.I.P.
Your prayers are requested for the repose of the souls of Philomena (Ena) McKenna and Thomas (Tom) Roe whose funerals took place recently.
We ask parishioners to remember the bereaved in your prayers.
Moorechurch Cemetery Committee
The Committee acquired the services of Tús workers for three days during the week to assist with a clean-up of the Graveyard. They had a very industrious week cutting grass and ivy, clearing and securing the front wall area and all the ditches and boundary areas. A much appreciated improvement, as you can see.
Thanks to all of these workers, Meath County Council and John Brangan for all of the work completed.
We would ask visitors to the graves and graveyard to please refrain from dumping on the ditches and boundary headlands. We encourage everyone to bring rubbish, old wreaths, flowerpots, or whatever debris they may have, home with them after their visit.
Many thanks to all for your continued support at Moorechurch Cemetery.

Sacraments in our Parish
If you would like to register your child/children for Baptism, please contact the Parish Office.
From September all parents/guardians wishing to bring their Child for Baptism will be required to attend a Baptismal Preparation meeting.
When choosing Godparents for your child we would like to advise the following according to the Law of the Church, Canon Law (872-5):
- A person to be baptised is to be given a sponsor (Godparent) who, together with the parents, presents an infant/child for baptism.
- A sponsor also helps the baptised person to lead a Christian life in keeping with Baptism and to fulfil faithfully the obligations inherent in it.
- There should only be one sponsor (Godparent) or if there are to be two, they should be male and female.
To be permitted to take on the function of a Godparent a person must:
- Be over 16 years of age,
- Be a Catholic who has been Confirmed and has already received the Sacrament of the Eucharist and leads a life of faith.
