Twenty Eighth Sunday in Ordinary Time 9th October 2022

R.I.P.

Your prayers are requested for the repose of the soul of Margaret Crawford whose funeral took place during the week.

Please remember all bereaved in your prayers.

Heating in St. Patrick’s Church

We regret to advise that the Heating system in St. Patrick’s Church has stopped working.

We have taken advice from our local Plumber, and he arranged a second opinion. The Church has also been assessed.  Both agree that the current boiler is beyond repair and therefore a new system has been ordered.

We apologise for the inconvenience.  Hopefully our Church will be warm and cosy again, very soon.

Safeguarding Awareness Sunday

Sunday, 9th October is Safeguarding Awareness Day.

Our safeguarding representatives are Carol McKiernan and Stephen Leonard.  Carol and Stephen can be contacted in confidence, through our Parish Office. They work with Fr. Brendan to help ensure a positive experience for children taking part in parish activities.

We have a safeguarding policy which is available from the parish office, and we have various procedures which some of you may be familiar with. These include codes of behaviours for the children and the adults involved in parish activities, consent forms which parents sign before children participate in activities, adequate supervision and good recruitment practices.

The long period of lockdown in our parishes had far reaching consequences, one of which includes the decrease in children and young people taking part in parish activities, even the basics, such as altar servers. Bishop Deenihan is keen for normal parish life to resume. This safeguarding awareness day gives us an opportunity to focus on how best our parish can encourage children and young people to have active ministries in our parish and to ensure they are both safe and welcome.

Parish Pastoral Council/Finance Committee

We are in the process of preparing to establish a Pastoral Council and a Finance Committee in our Parish.
