Stamullen Community News
The Cemetery committee would like to congratulate and thank all who had their plots in lovely festive condition. A very special thanks to the anonymous person, or persons, who donated wreaths. These wreaths were placed on old plots dating back centuries, many of whom have no living relatives. This was a very kind and generous gesture.
Well done to Jim Matthews and the tidy Towns Committee for the spectacular way the village was decorated for Christmas, specially the lovely crib, the tree with the star on top and the lights on either side of the village. These lights were green and white – a coincidence or the same colour as the St. Patrick’s GAA colours!? So, Community spirit is alive and well in Stamullen!
Stamullen Road Club
Well there was great excitement in Enniscrone, Co. Sligo last weekend when our own Stamullen Lady, Helen White, competing in the Masters Women’s All Ireland Masters Championship Race finished in a very creditable 2nd place and picked up the silver medal. Helen was cheered on all the way by her delighted club teammates. Also representing the club were two of our young Under 14’s, Aoibhinn Sharkey and Toby Sweetman, who both competed well in absolutely dreadful weather conditions.
In the Masters 50 Championship Race, Peter Sharkey was well in contention throughout, finishing outside of the medals but a very impressive performance just the same.
