Thirty Second Sunday in Ordinary Time 12th November 2023

November

November is a time for remembering and praying for our loved ones who have gone before us and whose loss we feel. It is a time when we are particularly conscious of those in our parish who are grieving and all those who have lost loved ones, especially in the past year.

We mark this time of year in our parish with events like the celebration of remembrance Mass as well as commemorating All Saints’ and All Souls’ Day.

In our Parish, this week we will create a sacred space/garden within both churches. This sacred space will be in the sanctuary area and it will be left in place until the end of November.

We will have our Remembrance Tree in this sacred space and all are invited to take a card, place your loved ones name on it, and hang it on the tree.

List of the Dead

In November we add our loved ones to the List of the Dead in our Parish.

List of the Dead envelopes are available beside the newsletters at the entrance/exit doors. They are also available in your yearly box of envelopes.

All who are named on the Parish List of the Dead will be remembered at all Masses during November and the two masses each First Friday.  All are invited to attend these masses on the First Fridays at 10am St. Mary’s and 7:30 pm in St. Patrick’s.

You can return your List of the Dead Envelope in any of the boxes provided in both churches.  For security, please leave envelopes during Mass times only.  You can also drop them into the Parish Office.

November Memorial Mass

Our Annual Parish Memorial Mass will take place at Vigil Masses on Saturday, 25th November.

Families who lost loved ones during the year will be invited to participate in this Mass.

Indeed, all are invited to participate and very welcome to attend. Please invite your family, friends and neighbours.

Sacraments in our Parish

Confirmation Enrolment Ceremonies will take place at Vigil Masses next Saturday, 18th November.

First Communion Enrolment Ceremonies will take place at Vigil Mases on Saturday, 2nd December.

Enrolment Forms will be collected at these Ceremonies. (If you haven’t received an Enrolment Form, please call to the Parish Office or chat to Fr. Brendan after any Mass).

CHY3 & 4 – Charity Tax Relief

There has been a great response to the request to complete CHY forms.  We are sincerely grateful for your support.  Forms can be placed in the basket during any Mass, given to Fr. Brendan or returned to the Parish Office.

40 Hours Adoration

Bishop Tom has invited all parishes and parishioners to make a Eucharistic pilgrimage to the Cathedral of Christ the King.  Opening Mass Friday, 24th November at 7:30 pm, Solemn Vespers and Benediction at 4pm on Sunday, 26th November and Confessions from 12pm until midnight on Saturday, 25th November.  (Please see poster in both churches).

We have been allocated 3-4 pm on Sunday 25th as our hour of Adoration, but parishioners are welcome to attend at any time they wish.

Together with neighbouring parishes, we have arranged a minibus to take anyone who wishes to attend over to Mullingar.  The Minibus will leave church car parks at 1 pm and return at 7:30 pm. (Times to be confirmed).

Please contact our Parish office to put your name down if you would like to join us.

Viatores Christi

We welcome members of Viatores Christi who are speaking at Masses in our parish this weekend.

What is Viatores Christi?

  • Viatores Christi (VC), is an association of Catholic lay missionary/development workers, founded in 1960.
  • VC brings about positive change by improving access to healthcare, education and livelihood opportunities in the marginalised communities in which we work.

Why are they talking at The Masses

  • To raise awareness about the missionary work of the Church and the role of lay missionaries, both at home and overseas.
  • To thank the people of the Meath Diocese for your support for our work over the years.
  • To offer an opportunity and preparation to anyone who feels called to volunteer.
  • To appeal for ongoing help both financially and above all through prayer.
