Parish Memorial Mass

“We are all walking each other home…”

Remembering all whose funerals took place in our Parish over the last twelve months and all who have died.

This weekend, we remember in prayer our loved ones who have gone before us marked with the sign of faith, and whose loss we continue to feel deeply.

It is a sacred time when, as a parish community, we are especially mindful of all who are grieving and of those who have lost loved ones, particularly during the past year.

We gather to celebrate our Remembrance Mass, entrusting our departed brothers and sisters to the loving mercy of God, and seeking comfort and hope in the promise of eternal life.

We extend a warm welcome to all who join us this weekend, especially the families and friends of those whom we remember in a special way.

R. I. P.

Your prayers are requested for the repose of the souls Margaret Connellan (sister of Michael Connellan) and Annette O’Connor (Sister of Mary Davitt) whose Funerals took place recently.

Please remember all bereaved families in your prayers.

World Day of Remembrance for Road Traffic Victims

Sunday, 16th November is World Day of Remembrance for Road Traffic Victims.

We remember road traffic victims at all Masses this weekend.

So far in 2025, 147 people have lost their lives on Irish roads.

Lord, on this World Day of Remembrance for the Victims of Road Traffic Accidents,

we remember all those who have lost their earthly lives on our roads and all those who have been injured in body and in mind.

May those whose earthly lives have been lost as a result of road accidents be brought into the light of your loving presence.

We pray for those who have suffered injury as a result of a road crash; those who have suffered permanent injury, and those who care for them.

May the Lord strengthen us to support and comfort them; that they may find the hope and peace that comes from God.

List of the Dead

You can return your List of the Dead Envelope in any of the boxes provided in both churches. For security, please leave envelopes during Mass times only. You can also drop them into the Parish.

Dept of Education School Survey

As you know, the Department of Education is currently conducting a survey of parents and prospective parents of pupils in Primary schools as to the type of education they want for their children. The Catholic patrons are very clear that we want you to participate in this particular survey. It is very important that all voices are heard. There are those who wish to have a school of a different patronage. There are those who wish to have a catholic school for their child. It is important that all voices are heard so that proper provision can be provided. I am committed to Catholic education. I am committed to a sacramental education and I am committed to teaching children about Jesus in the School. That model does not necessarily suit everybody. We respect that, but please vote and make sure that your consideration, your views, are part of the discussion. Otherwise, planning for the future becomes very difficult.

Bishop Tom

Catholic Communications office

Over the next four weeks, the Catholic Communications Office will be raising awareness about the Department of Education and Youth’s online survey regarding school patronage. Please check video content on our digital platform TheWay.ie and on social media.

40 Hours Adoration – Jubilee Year of Hope

As we celebrate the Jubilee Year of Hope, a special 40 Hours of Eucharistic Adoration will take place in the Cathedral of Christ the King, Mullingar, from Friday 21st to Sunday 23rd November, concluding on the Solemnity of Christ the King. Adoration will begin after Mass on Friday 21st November at 7:30 pm and conclude at 4 pm with sung Vespers and Benediction on Sunday 23rd November, with Bishop Alan Mc Guckian SJ, Bishop of Down and Connor, as homilist.

There will be confessions from noon until midnight on Saturday, 22nd November.

Each parish within the Pastoral Area in the Diocese has been invited to spend one hour in Adoration before the Blessed Sacrament. Adoration in our Parish takes place on Wednesday at 9am in St. Mary’s Church and after 10 am Mass in St. Patrick’s Church.

Everyone is warmly invited to take part in this diocesan pilgrimage of prayer, praying for vocations, for families preparing for the Sacraments, and for peace in our world.

First Saturday Conference in Knock

To mark the 10th anniversary of the First Saturday Apparition in Pontevedra, Spain, there will be a special conference in Knock on the first Saturday in December (6th).

The day begins with adoration and confessions at 10am in the Reconciliation Chapel. There will be three talks from Bishop John Keenan, Antonia Moffat, and Fr Philip Kemmy in St John's Centre. There will also be the Rosary led by the Children's Rosary group, a fifteen minutes meditation led by Fr. Marius O'Reilly, as Our Lady requested for the First Saturdays, and time for lunch.

At Fatima, Our Lady promised that there would be peace in the world and that many souls would be saved through this devotion. Visit firstsaturdays.ie
