Mission Sunday

This Sunday is World Mission Sunday. Envelopes are available beside our Newsletter.

World Mission Sunday is the Holy Father’s annual appeal for spiritual and financial support so that the life-giving work of overseas mission and missionaries can continue.

The theme for this year’s celebration of Mission Sunday is: “Missionaries of Hope Among All Peoples”.

World Mission Sunday Mass will take place this Sunday, 19th October at 11.00 am and will be broadcast on RTÉ One, RTÉ Radio 1 Extra, and the RTÉ Player.

This special Mass will include a video message from Pope Leo XIV, in which the Holy Father draws on his experience as a former missionary priest and bishop to offer a heartfelt appeal to support the Church’s missionary work.

The Mass will be celebrated by Father Michael Kelly, Director of Missio Ireland, with the participation of representatives from Misean Cara, Missio Ireland, and AMRI. Music will be led by Ian Callanan.

November

November Memorial Mass

Our Annual Parish Memorial Mass will take place at the Vigil Mass on Saturday, 15th November.

Families who lost loved ones during the year will be invited to participate in this Mass.

Indeed, all are invited to participate and very welcome to attend. Please invite your family, friends and neighbours.

List of the Dead

In November we add our loved ones to the List of the Dead in our Parish.

List of the Dead envelopes are available beside the newsletters at the entrance/exit doors. They are also available in your yearly box of envelopes.

All who are named on the Parish List of the Dead will be remembered at all Masses during November and the two masses each First Friday. All are invited to attend these masses on the First Fridays at 10am St. Mary’s and 7:30 pm in St. Patrick’s.

You can return your List of the Dead Envelope in any of the boxes provided in both churches. For security, please leave envelopes during Mass times only. You can also drop them into the Parish.

Sacramental Preparation

Once again, we thank parents and guardians from our for attending our Sacramental Preparation evening recently.

It was wonderful and uplifting to see such a large gathering.

We would like to draw your attention to some details as we commence preparations:

E-mail Address

If you know someone who has not received an e-mail from us yet. Please ask them to contact our Parish Office at secretary@sjparish.ie so that their details can be added to our mailing list.

Enrolment Form

If you did not receive an Enrolment Form you can collect one from Fr. Brendan at any of our Weekend Masses.

Please keep the completed form until the Enrolment Ceremony, when it will be collected from your child as part of the ceremony.

Baptism Certificate

If your child was Baptised outside our Parish, please include a copy of their Baptism Certificate with the Enrolment Form.

Confirmation Ceremony

We have been advised by Bishop Tom that Confirmation Ceremonies for our Parish will take place on Monday, 23rd March 2026 -

  • 10 am for the Candidates from St. Patrick’s School
  • 12 pm for the Candidates from Whitecross School

First Communion Ceremony

Dates for First Communion will be confirmed and shared before the end of this month.

Due to the large number of candidates this year for Confirmation and Communion, it is necessary that attendance be limited to five members per family (this includes the child receiving the Sacrament).

We appreciate your understanding and co-operation in helping ensure that all families can be comfortably accommodated.

This is a very exciting time for our young parishioners, their families and our Parish.

May the Lord bless us all,

as we share in His love together.

We ask parishioners to pray for these children and their families as they prepare for the Sacraments next year.
